Thurston CE Primary Academy follows ROOTS AND FRUITS Christian collective worship resource designed to support 'whole school' worship over a period of 2 years. Rooted in Bible teaching, twelve Christian values represent the fruit that grows as the teaching is lived out in every day life.
Collective worship takes place at the end of each day for 20 minutes. This gives the opportunity for all pupils'and teaching staff to participate in collective worship together making it the heart of the school. The messages from collective worship feeds into the daily life of the school within the classroom environment. Each week a member of the church community is invited to lead collective worship on a Tuesday and every other Wednesday members of Open The Book deliver a biblical message through story telling.
Collective worship follows a format of:
We gather together and greet each another. We all come to play a part in this community. We are preparing to meet with God.
We engage in the big things and the little things in life. We encounter Jesus and the stories in the Bible. We are listening to God's messages to us.
We respond to what we have heard and seen. We respond together and as individuals. We are given the opportunity to worship God.
We are sent out to love and serve one another and to make a difference in the world. We are all dismissed with God's blessing.
