I am a parent and a secondary school teacher at Mildenhall College with eleven years’ experience.
I also have a Masters in Education and I am passionate about raising pupil attainment through high quality teaching and learning in the classroom.
I have been the headteacher of Thurston Primary Academy for 10 years now which is my second headship. I now share the role with my co-head Mr Bayes.
I am passionate about primary education and have a background in Special Needs, Early Years and have coordinated literacy in previous roles. I am a Local Leader in Education.
Prior to teaching I gained a degree in textile design and worked for a local textile company.
I have been the Deputy Headteacher of Thurston Primary Academy for 6 years and am now Co-Headteacher, jobsharing successfully with Kathy Lambert.
I am a specialist maths teacher having led maths in my previous middle school.
I have been working in education for nine years as a Teaching Assistant at Thurston Primary Academy.
I have worked on 1:1 basis with children with specific learning difficulties and medical and physical difficulties.
I am trained in Manual Handling and up to Level 8 trained in Makaton.
As a parent of three children, I am passionate about making a difference within the school. From helping drive performance, through to supporting the wellbeing of both pupils and staff, my commitment to supporting the governing body and the school is a given.
Following a 16 year career within Banking and Asset Management, I am now Managing Director of my own consultancy business supporting small and medium sized businesses achieve their goals
I have 8 years’ experience as a Governor for the school, having served as Chair of both Curriculum and Finance Committees, as well as interim Chair of the Governing Body.
I am also the Chair of Directors for the Thedwastre Education Trust.
Professionally, I have experience in the Finance Sector, having worked in Financial Services for over 16 years, and currently working in Banking.
I have been in education for 23 years, 20 of which have been as a teacher at Thurston Primary School. I am the SENDCo for the school, having trained and successfully gained SEND award 5 years ago.
I currently sit on the Governor Committee as staff governor.
I am a parent of a pupil in Year 5 and another of my children has just left to attend Upper School. I am a dental hygienist.
I am passionate about primary education and am currently the governor responsible for Pupil Premium funding and for Children in Care.
I have lived in Thurston for 30 years and have 3 grown up children who were all educated at Thurston Upper School. I have 5 grandchildren, 2 of whom live in Australia.
I have a Geography degree from King's College, London and taught in 3 secondary schools before working as a Home Tutor for Suffolk County Council for pupils who were not attending school. I helped them return to school by building up their confidence and setting them a goal or achieving to the best of their ability.
I am committed to all children receiving the best education possible and at present have responsibility for early years.
With a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and over 30 years’ experience working at management level within personnel and development departments in retail, media and manufacturing, the key skills I can offer as a school governor include a knowledge of employment law, planning and monitoring financial budgets and conducting interviews. I first became involved with the school in 2012 as a volunteer helper, and take great pleasure in seeing the development of the children.

I have been the vicar of St Peters in Thurston and Holy Innocents in Great Barton for four years.
I am blessed to serve both parishes and enjoy visiting the schools.
I am a mum of two children, one at the school and one starting in September. I am also the chair of FOTS - Friends of Thurston School, a group of parents and volunteers who organise events and fund-raise to help boost the school's resources.
