Latest SIAMS (Church School) Inspection

As we are a C. of E. school, we are inspected by the Church of England Education Office periodically to ensure our Christian ethos and teaching of RE is of a satisfactory standard. More recently the inspection process has been made more rigorous and a greater emphasis has been placed on the overarching Christian vision of the school.

We are now able to publish the judgement given to our school by the inspector who visited on 22nd November. Please see the attachment below for the detailed report.

Although we are disappointed that the inspector judged our school’s grade to be ‘Requires Improvement’ we are confident that we have a very strong Christian ethos and we are proud of the children, the staff, governors and parents who make such a positive contribution to the spiritual life of the school.

During his visit, the inspector recognised that we have a strongly inclusive Christian ethos, staff have high expectations of pupils and work well together to ensure all make best possible progress.

The inspector also noted that Daily Collective Worship is important to the life of the school. As a staff we recognise that this is a valuable time to allow pupils and staff to reflect on our Christian Value of the term.

The teaching of RE (Religious Education) was also highly praised and a number of displays and areas for reflection were noted, as was the very good behaviour of our pupils throughout the school. Children and parents support a number of charities and link them to Christian values and recognise the fragility of our world.

With the advice within the report and the support of the diocese we remain confident that we will meet the criteria in order to secure the grade of ‘Good’ within the two year period before the next inspection date.

We would like to thank all parents and members of the local community for their ongoing support for our school.
